A scratchboard from art class the year before last. I can't believe it's taken me this long to post!! I gave a print of it to my friend Colette, who is a potter like my Mom, because this is her chipmunk and that's her hand in the picture.
There's a great story with Joey. A few years ago, Colette took in this little baby chipmunk, who she had found alone and scared at her farm. She fed her, kept her warm and took care of her for the winter. Spring came, and it was time for little Joey to go outside. Like any pet, she went exploring, but always came home to eat and be cozy. Joey continues to return to Colette's, sometimes with her male chipmunk friends in tow (cause, don'tcha know, Joey's a stud :-P)
Colette adored the gift - she said to me that she would cherish it forever because of the lovely memories that she has of her little friend. The original is framed in my hallway, with my other artwork and the print is framed in hers
Time: Two weeks, a little work every day. Tools: Scratchboard paper and an Exact-o knife
